SLINGAIR HELIWORK WA

The Kimberley. So remote, so immense, so rugged.

It challenges you to discover it, but it guards its secrets well.

Unless … you take to the AIR!

Tourism Awards WinnerKerry Slingsby started his aviation business in Kununurra in 1984.
In the 23 years since, he has grown the business to become a company with around thirty six aircraft, employing approximately 80 staff in the tourist season.

We are the second largest family owned aviation company in Australia (Source: CASA Aircraft Register), the largest in Western Australia.  Slingair & Heliwork WA are very highly regarded within the aviation industry in Australia. Together with our impeccable service and safety record, Slingair & Heliwork WA has had continuous growth for the past twenty three years.  Slingair is based in Kununurra with 16 aeroplanes and works closely with sister company Heliwork WA which operates 20 helicopters, with remote bases located at Purnululu National Park, the Mitchell Plateau, Warmun and El Questro.

Accredited Tourism BusinessAircraft are operated under charter category and used for freight and charter flights and scenic touring. Remote area work is our specialty, with aircraft chosen for their ability to deliver premium service. We operate both turbine and piston engine aircraft. We have experience in mining survey, photography, sling work, medivacs and other specialized operations.

A key strength of the companies is management’s ability to identify and act upon areas of improvement and progress.  This is an area of paramount importance in such a fast moving and developing industry and is especially exciting in such a remote area.  We are often ahead of our counterparts in the cities in the areas of communication and technology as these are vital to our existence.

We have our own aircraft maintenance facility in Kununurra as well as a workshop in Brisbane where we conduct all our major work. This way we can ensure the quality of maintenance is always at the high standard we demand.

The company has been a winner at the 1996, 1997, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001 and 2003 Western Australian Tourism Awards.  In 2001 Kerry Slingsby was presented with the Premier's Award to Legends in the Hospitality and Tourism Industry. More recently, we won Australia’s North West Tourism General Business Award in 2006.
