The Peel Zoo

Peel Zoo and Yanchep National park are engaged in a breeding program to save the Koalas as well educate the public. We do not endorse the exploitation of koalas as money making opportunities for zoo and wildlife parks, just to create a photo or pat and chat shows. Koalas sleep up to 18 hrs per day, they need their sleep and the right food. This combination creates for a long healthy life and breeding program . We do allow you to view the Koalas in their natural habitat and admire their natural beauty from a safe distance. Koalas are cute and look cuddly, but they have very strong claws & teeth which can cause serious injury. Due to duty of care and the Koalas' interest we will not allow Koala handling or be seen taking a Koala out on display in public. They belong at home in among the gum trees, where its safe to sleep and not be woken up every twenty minutes, just so we can selfishly take a photo. We understand this is not the news tourists and the like want to hear, however, at Peel Zoo and Yanchep, our animals' and customers' safety are premium. We want you to feel the joy that only animals can bring. In amongst the many types of zoo animals, birds and reptiles, we have many that you can feed and cuddle. Animals like Kangaroos, Deer, Baby Goats beautiful Australian birds, Long Nose potoroos, spotted tailed quolls, baby alpacas. You can even Cuddle “Chase” the Peel Zoo Mascot dog. You see, we want you to interact with the animals, not just walk past them. We know the love we feel from feeding and petting the animals. We Want you to experience that too.
